After dominating the NFL for a decade, former Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald knows a thing or two about great defenders.
That’s why when Donald shares his opinion about who could potentially fill his shoes as a player that others would consider the next top defensive lineman, people take notice.
Donald did just that today on the “Green Light” podcast, naming Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt as someone who will dominate the league for the foreseeable future, in a clip posted to Twitter by the podcast.
“If you talk about a guy that’s consistent, been doing it year-in, year-out consistently, that’s gonna get you 15 sacks, 13 sacks, d— 22 sacks consistent, he’s the guy been doing it consistently,” Donald said of Watt.

“His stats be ridiculous every single year,” Donald continued about Watt, mentioning both his interceptions and defensive touchdowns as another measure of the defender’s magnitude on the field.
Donald also named other defenders that could be the most trouble for NFL offenses over the next few years.
In addition to Watt, Donald praised Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.
The conversation then turned to the inevitable: is T.J. Watt better than his brother, former Houston Texans star J.J. Watt?
“It’s crazy that both brothers are top-tier guys,” Donald said, agreeing that both Watt brothers are special athletes worthy of the high praise.
Donald announced his retirement in March after recording 111 sacks and 542 total tackles during his illustrious career.
