New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers still sounds committed to returning at some point this season despite tearing his Achilles in Week 1.
The Jets officially opened up the 21-day practice window for Rodgers on November 29, meaning they’ll have until December 20 to activate him off injured reserve or he’ll be forced to miss the rest of the season.
Rodgers has spoken about his desire to play by December 24, and recently told “The Pat McAfee Show” that he’s continued to press forward on his rehab.
“I’m getting better, improving. Still some things I got to do in order to be able to be cleared,” Rodgers said Tuesday. “I’ve done some limited practice, done some 7-on-7 stuff at the end of practice.”

Rodgers added that he’s mostly just practicing with third-string players and practice squad players looking to get more reps after the day ends.
Now, Rodgers has said he would only return if the Jets were in the playoff hunt.
And oddly enough, New York’s win over the Houston Texans in Week 14 actually kept them alive in the race.
At 5-8, New York is two games back from a Wild Card spot with games against the Miami Dolphins, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and New England Patriots.
If the Jets upset the Dolphins on December 17 and other playoff hopefuls lose, that could set up a potential Rodgers return for that December 24 game against the Commanders.
The Tennessee Titans just beat the Dolphins, too, so anything is possible.
A lot would need to happen for the Jets to become a legitimate playoff team, but the prospect remains for New York to make a late-season push – potentially with Rodgers under center.
