After an offseason full of anticipation, New York Jets fans had their hearts ripped out during the team’s first game of the regular season when quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury.
Most believed the injury was going to prevent Rodgers from suiting up for the Jets again during the 2023 campaign, but that might actually not be the case.
According to a recent report from TMZ, Rodgers is expected to be medically cleared to return to the field for New York prior to the team’s Week 16 game against the Washington Commanders (via Dov Kleiman on Twitter).

Given his current age (40-years-old) and the typical recovery time from a torn Achilles, it’s pretty incredible that it appears Rodgers is likely going to be back on the field for the Jets before the end of the month.
Without their top quarterback, the 2023 season certainly hasn’t gone according to plan for New York.
After a big win over the Houston Texans on Sunday, the Jets now have a 5-8 record, and they’re two games behind the final two wild-card teams in the current AFC playoff picture.
New York has games against the Commanders, Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, and New England Patriots left on their schedule.
If the Jets are going to defy the odds and sneak into the playoffs this season, they’re likely going to need to win all four of their remaining matchups.
That should certainly be easier to accomplish with Rodgers back on the field, but before he returns, New York must first attempt to defeat the Dolphins without him, which won’t be anything close to simple.
