The 2023 NFL Season did not turn out as expected for the New York Giants.
After winning a playoff game in 2022, many fans and analysts expected the Giants to take another step forward under Daniel Jones’ leadership.
However, due to key injuries to Jones and several other players, the Giants fell short of their goals.
As they look ahead to the 2024 season, some have suggested the team move on from Jones entirely, especially with the strength of the quarterbacks in this year’s draft class.
Victor Cruz recently appeared on The Carton Show, outlining his case for the Giants to draft J.J. McCarthy, effectively moving on from Jones.
“They need to make a splash,” Cruz said, adding, “I want them to bring in a guy like J.J. McCarthy.”

McCarthy, as Cruz points out, comes from a Michigan system run by John Harbaugh.
Harbaugh is seen as a great coach, which is a big reason he transferred from the NCAA ranks back to the NFL in the offseason.
If McCarthy learned a lot from the legendary coach and is able to apply that to the NFL, he just might be able to have a colossal impact on whatever team takes a chance on him.
Whether that is the Giants or not remains to be seen.
The team did make a four-year commitment to Jones via his contract extension, but as fans have seen with the recent Russell Wilson situation in Denver, anything can happen in the NFL.
If the front office is as high on McCarthy as Cruz is, the team could make a way for him to be their starter in 2024.
