Years ago, NFL scouts raved about Spencer Rattler.
They thought he could be the next big thing to make it to the league, but that hype was short-lived.
He was benched and had to transfer, and even there, he wasn’t at his best.
Even so, all things considered, it was still shocking to see him slip all the way to the fifth round of the NFL Draft.
There were many QB-needy teams, especially the Las Vegas Raiders, who could’ve benefited from taking a chance on him early on, and he wound up falling into the New Orleans Saints’ lap.
With that in mind, NFL analyst Emory Hunt believes that Dennis Allen might be leaning towards starting him by the end of the season.
Talking on the “Ross Tucker Podcast,” Hunt stated that he actually liked Rattler better than some first-round quarterbacks like Bo Nix and J.J. McCarthy.

He also thinks that the clock is ticking in the Big Easy, so now that Allen has finally had his first winning season as a head coach, he should take a leap forward by starting the better guy by the season’s end.
Of course, that should also depend on whether Derek Carr is having a good season or if he’s struggling again.
Whatever the case, Rattler was perhaps the most intriguing and polarizing QB entering the league this season, and while he might never be able to live up to his early expectations, there’s still a chance he makes his way to the field at some point.
