The Baltimore Ravens have surprised many fans and analysts throughout the season.
They have the best record in the AFC and have an excellent opportunity to secure the No. 1 seed in the conference.
While several contributing factors have aided the team’s success, Lamar Jackson is widely viewed as the biggest difference-maker.
In a recent segment of the NFL Wire, analyst Greg Cosell outlined Jackson’s superior play.
He called Jackson an “assassin both in and out of the pocket,” also saying he is a “two-play QB,” a line taken from OC Todd Monken.
New “Xs and Os with @gregcosell” on @TheNFLWire: Lamar Jackson is an assassin both in and out of the pocket, and two throws to Isaiah Likely against the @Jaguars showed how. Jackson is a “two-play QB,” as @Ravens OC Todd Monken has said.

One of the negative connotations about Jackson throughout his career is that he’s nothing more than a rushing quarterback.
While some seasons haven’t been as productive through the air, that has not been the case in 2023.
Monken has advocated for Jackson throughout the season, drawing up plays that allow him to be successful through the air.
With a new OC backing him up, Jackson’s passing game has been unleashed, which has brought him back into the MVP conversation.
He won MVP in 2019 due to his total touchdowns and elite rushing abilities.
While he is still rushing efficiently this year, Jackson is much more highly regarded for his passing numbers than in the past, giving the Ravens a leg up on their AFC counterparts.
They might control their destiny for the No. 1 playoff seed, but they have a tricky test against the San Francisco 49ers.
Fans will have a chance to see Jackson against another playoff-caliber team, hoping he can hold up against a juggernaut of a defense.
