As a result of some severe weather, the NFL has moved the playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium to Monday, ahead of the showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.
The Bills are one of the teams in the league that still play outside during the regular season and postseason despite having to play in weather like this, which can be challenging to deal with in more ways than one.
With this snowstorm really impacting this game and forcing it to Monday, some have started to wonder why teams in the league, like the Bills and Green Bay Packers, continue to have outside stadiums.
Ted Nguyen of The Athletic argues that continuing to play at Highmark Stadium rather than a stadium with a dome will ruin superstar quarterback Josh Allen’s career in the league because it forces the team to go with a run-heavy offense rather than being able to air it out, which he does really well.
Bills will waste Josh Allen’s career if they don’t build a dome. You have a coveted mutant QB but every year you make the playoffs, the weather neuters his ability to throw and forces BUF into a run-heavy script.

Nguyen does have a point, but that’s life in the NFL, as it is part of the toughness that comes with playing on a team that plays in cold weather.
However, with the Bills being one of the more unfortunate teams that have tortured their fanbase with epic playoff collapses, maybe it is time for a change in order to give Buffalo a better chance of winning a Super Bowl in the future.
It’ll be interesting to see how Monday’s game in Buffalo goes and whether it will play in the Bills’ favor or be another playoff disappointment.
