Against all odds, the Cleveland Browns were able to clinch a postseason berth and could very well make some noise.
The Browns suffered several injuries to key players during the 2023 NFL season, but head coach Kevin Stefanski and his staff did an excellent job of getting the team to play.
The players also deserve credit for stepping up and now they have an outside chance of winning a Super Bowl title.
Joe Flacco breathed life into the offense, but Cleveland’s defense deserves most of the credit for their success.
The Browns’ defense was the best unit in the league this season and for good reason as they have playmakers at every level of the field.
While Myles Garrett is the clear leader of the defense, Mina Kimes explained how good Denzel Ward is and what he means to their secondary via her personal Twitter account.
“When Denzel Ward plays, the Browns defense allows an NFL-low QBR of just *18* in man coverage. 18!!!” Kimes explained.

Kimes explains that Ward is one of the stickiest cornerbacks in the league and when he is targeted opposing quarterbacks’ ratings drop dramatically.
The former No. 4 overall pick has been outstanding in coverage and should draw Nico Collins when the Browns take on the Houston Texans during Wild Card weekend.
Ward excels in man coverage and shutting down Collins will be key to ensuring the Texans don’t put up many points.
CJ Stroud is playing like a quarterback well beyond his years, but the rookie might have a tough day ahead of him given that he faces Ward and the stout Cleveland defense.
