The Buffalo Bills offense looks like it’s finally starting to find a groove as they did just enough to pull off a 20-17 win against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14.
Although it wasn’t the high-scoring affair fans were hoping for, the Bills and Josh Allen did show some quality playmaking that allowed them to edge out the Chiefs in the end.
Buffalo made a critical change midway through the 2023 NFL season when they fired former offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and elevated Joe Brady as the interim.
Under Brady, the Bills have been more efficient in moving the chains and standing on schedule offensively.
There have been some noticeable shifts in the offensive philosophy since Brady took over playcalling and there’s been one major change that’s been apparent so far via Henry McKenna of FOX.

McKenna notes that Allen has been checking the football down more than double what he was previously, and not just to the running backs.
Allen has always tried to extend plays to look for the big shot downfield, but with defenses sitting on those long-developing routes, he’s finally embraced looking for the easy completion underneath for positive plays.
Unsurprisingly, this has led to more scrimmage yards from James Cook who was highly-touted for his pass-catching ability.
It might not be the flashiest offensive scheme, but it’s been working for Buffalo who finds themselves right back in the thick of the AFC playoff race.
With Allen playing under much more control and the team putting together solid drives, the Bills look like a dangerous postseason threat.
