The Houston Texans weren’t supposed to be in the mix for a playoff berth this season, let alone for a divisional title.
Most people predicted some growing pains and early-career struggles for C.J. Stroud, not because of him or his talents, but due to his team’s subpar offensive line and lack of talent in the receiving corps.
Fast forward to today, and Stroud has proved every single one of the doubters wrong, and judging by the stats, he could and should be considered a top-five quarterback in today’s game.
At least, that’s how former NFL WR Greg Jennings feels, pointing out his stats and stating that the only reason people don’t consider him an elite quarterback right now is because he’s a rookie (via The Carton Show).
“The stats don’t lie. C.J. Stroud is that good. We would not be talking about the Houston Texans if it weren’t for his performances.”

Through 9 career games, Stroud is currently leading the league in passing yards per game (291.8).
He’s also first in interceptions (2), tied ninth in passing TDs (15), third in passing yards per attempt (8.3), and sixth in Passer Rating (101.0).
Stroud and DeMeco Ryans’ team are fresh off taking down Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals on the road, with Stroud even outplaying an elite gunslinger like Burrow.
The Texans are currently sitting on a 5-4 record, trailing the Jacksonville Jaguars by just one game.
Stroud has already outplayed Trevor Lawrence and beaten the Jaguars earlier in the season, and a win two weeks from now would give them the lead in the division.
He might be a rookie and all, but he’s playing like a legit superstar, and if anything, that only makes it way more impressive, so people should just give him his flowers already.
