The University of Washington recently wrapped up it’s Pro Day, an event with a lot of eyes on it from the NFL.
Washington had several players for NFL teams to keep their eyes on, especially Rome Odunze and Michael Penix Jr.
Odunze seems to be a consensus first-round pick by many of the top analysts, but the jury is out on Penix.
Some believe Penix has done enough to be a first-rounder as well, especially after looking at how well he performed at his Pro Day.
Others, like Craig Carton, aren’t so sure that he is good enough to be taken that early.
“Nobody is drafting Michael Penix Jr. to be their starting quarterback,” Carton said.

Carton believes that Penix is “not good enough” to be a starter on an NFL roster right away.
If a team is looking for a day-one starter, Carton doesn’t think Penix provides that level of upside.
This year’s draft could provide a lot of fireworks, especially as it pertains to the quarterback position.
With a lot of quarterback-needy teams, fans could see their favorite organization reach on a player, hoping they pan out, even if they aren’t highly-regarded in the public eye.
This has happened in the past, but will it happen with a team and Penix in 2024?
His draft value is certainly all over the place with less than a month to go until the big event, which should make for a rumor-filled few weeks leading up to this year’s selections being announced.
