The NFL Draft is less than two months away.
Aside from the upcoming Combine, the draft is the biggest part of the offseason for teams across the league.
There are many teams near the top of the draft order that have significant needs at important positions, including quarterbacks, wide receivers, and offensive linemen.
While these needs exist, Evan Cohen recently discussed his somewhat surprising prediction for the draft in a recent segment of Unsportsmanlike Radio.
“I believe that there is going to be a team in the first round within the first seven (picks), trade down multiple times and stockpile picks,” Cohen said.

Cohen is under the impression that, at least one team will punt on their first selection of the draft, electing to move back, hoping to get multiple first-rounders.
While this isn’t necessarily a new strategy, it is one that hasn’t been used in recent history.
Teams that are near the top of the draft order are there for a reason, and they like to take a chance on some of the most highly touted prospects.
To Cohen’s prediction, however, drafting multiple first-rounders gives teams a better chance of selecting somebody who can impact their franchise for the foreseeable future.
There are plenty of examples of early first-round busts, and if that happens, teams invested significant capital into a player that didn’t pan out.
This way, teams hope to have less of a risk that their first-round pick will bust, giving them the best chance to succeed moving forward.
