No player in NFL history has ever finished a regular season with at least 2,000 receiving yards, but that might change if Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has anything to say about it.
Through six games, Hill has already accumulated 814 receiving yards, and at his current pace, he’ll finish the 2023 campaign with more than 2,300 receiving yards.
Obviously, Hill being able to remain healthy for the rest of the year will be a factor, but if he can play in at least 16 games, he should be able to break the current single-season receiving yards record.
ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky recently revealed that he is among those who believe the Dolphins receiver will be able to break the record this year.
“Absolutely, he can get to 2,000. I expect him to.”

Orlovsky shared that Miami maintaining their successful passing attack, Hill’s health, and the team having the chance to fight for the No. 1 seed in the AFC this season will all be factors in whether or not the veteran pass-catcher can finish with over 2,000 receiving yards.
The record that Hill is on pace to break is currently held by Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who finished with 1,964 receiving yards in 2012 as a member of the Detroit Lions.
There’s no reason to believe that the Dolphins are going to change up their passing strategy anytime soon, so Hill’s opportunities each week should be able to remain consistent.
If he’s going to break Johnson’s record, it just matters what Hill is able to do with those opportunities, and so far this season, he’s certainly made the most of his opportunities out on the field.
