The San Francisco 49ers and Brock Purdy were a match made in heaven.
Not only is he perfectly suited to run Kyle Shanahan’s offense, but he’s also on a very cheap contract.
Of course, that allows the team to surround him with a flurry of stars on both sides of the field.
Needless to say, that’s not going to be the case forever.
Purdy will be eligible for a contract extension next offseason, and the Niners will have to make a decision about that.
Recently, Niners CEO Jed York stated that it would be an easy choice for him, pretty much claiming that he’s going to give him a check regardless of how much money he demands.
That’s why NFL analyst Craig Carton believes that Purdy is about to become the highest-paid player in NFL history.

Talking on The Carton Show, the controversial pundit stated that it’s a matter of time before the Niners give him north of $60 million a year, as that’s just the way things go in this business.
Every contract sets a new record, so if that trend continues, there’s absolutely no reason to believe this won’t be the case with the former Mr. Irrelevant as well.
Carton says that even if Purdy doesn’t improve an ounce next season, having a similar year to the one he had in 2023 should be more than enough for him to get a historical payday.
That’s obviously going to be an issue when it comes to re-signing some of their stars, but they’ll cross that bridge when they get there.
