Most NFL analysts talked about the race to the top of the AFC being the hardest in the league, but that may not be the case anymore.
The Detroit Lions have officially joined the discussion to be the best team in the NFC, and they’re currently tied for the best record in the league (5-1).
Notably, ESPN insider Mike Greenberg actually believes the Lions are the best team in all of football right now (via Get Up).

Greenberg stated that the Lions are so versatile and dynamic that they can find different ways to win football games, and he has a valid point right there.
They could pound on the ground and be a dominant running team, as they have shown with David Montgomery dominating the Green Bay Packers at will.
Their defense is much improved and Aidan Hutchinson is one of the most disruptive pass rushers in the game, not to mention their revamped secondary defense.
And they can also do some damage with the passing game, as Jared Goff has looked like an entirely different quarterback since arriving in Michigan, and they have three potentially elite pass catchers in Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and rookie TE Sam LaPorta.
Dan Campbell has put together a dynamic team, and they have all bought in and would do whatever is needed to get a win.
The Lions also have quite a favorable schedule for the remainder of the season, so don’t be shocked if they finish the season with the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
