The Las Vegas Raiders have been one of the most heavily-discussed NFL teams over the past several weeks.
After firing Josh McDaniels from his post as head coach, the Raiders turned to then linebackers coach, Antonio Pierce, to lead the team as their interim.
The team initially responded positively to Pierce as their leader, winning their first two games under him.
They have since come back to earth, losing their last two contests.
Pierce might be in the organization’s long-term plans for a head coach, but they will still need to search the offseason.
When taking a look at the potential candidates, reporter Vinny Bonsignore pointed to David Shaw as someone to keep a close eye on.

Shaw has nearly 30 years of coaching experience between the collegiate and professional levels.
He was a member of the Raiders’ organization from 1998-2001 and has an understanding of how things are run around there.
A lot might have changed over the past 20 years, but the fact that he has a built-in rapport could help his case.
The Raiders have struggled to make a meaningful impact on the AFC West recently, a lot of that has to do with the Kansas City Chiefs.
They might be looking for someone with fresh eyes to start to turn this team around, bringing them back into contention.
With this in mind, the front office might also look at how the Raiders finish the 2023 campaign.
If Pierce can continue to rally the troops and keep winning over the locker room, he might end up being the best person for the job.
