The New England Patriots clearly need to do something about their quarterback situation.
However, even when they figure that out, whoever’s behind center for Jerod Mayo’s team will need someone to throw the football to.
With Tee Higgins and Michael Pittman Jr. getting the franchise tag, the free-agent wide receiver market took a bit of a hit.
Higgins could still be traded, per some reports, but the Patriots aren’t in a position to give up multiple valuable assets right now, as they have holes all over the roster.
Considering that, Patriots beat writer Mark Daniels reports that Calvin Ridley has now become the best potential option for the Patriots.

The Patriots currently have the No. 3 selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.
They could use it to land a potential generational talent like Marvin Harrison Jr.
Nonetheless, that would only work if they’re also able to land a veteran quarterback in free agency or via trade, with Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, and Kirk Cousins as the best potential options.
Most people expect them to use their pick to get UNC star Drake Maye, or even LSU’s Jayden Daniels if he’s not taken No. 2.
Whatever the case, it might take a while before this team is ready to make a splash.
Their defense might continue to be one of the best in the league under Coach Mayo, but they will need to spend big bucks and use plenty of assets to revamp one of the worst and least talented offenses in the entire league.
