We are five days from the official 8start of the 2024 regular season in MLB.
We are about to watch the action begin, and Blake Snell, the reigning NL Cy Young award winner, still doesn’t have a home.
There must be a huge gap between what he wants and what teams are offering, because he doesn’t seem to be particularly close to committing his future to a club.
The folks at MLB Network have been discussing potential landing spots for the top left-hander, and three names came up.
Former player and current analyst Harold Reynolds mentioned the San Francisco Giants and the Seattle Mariners as the most likely teams to end up paying Snell.
At the end of the day, those two teams are playoff-caliber but somewhat on the bubble: getting an experienced, proven arm like Snell can get them over the hump so it would be a worthwhile investment.
However, Reynolds also named a sleeper in the Snell sweepstakes: the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He said that they have multiple pitchers out with injury, and that Snell could be an option under the right circumstances.
As unlikely as it is, it’s still not impossible.
Of course, his market would have to completely collapse for the Dodgers to get involved, but it could be a plausible scenario.
Snell, who posted a 2.25 ERA with 234 strikeouts last year, is trying to get a long-term pact, though, so Seattle and San Francisco (and the Los Angeles Angels) are realistic landing spots.
The Dodgers?
It would certainly cause people to complain, but it’s definitely not impossible.
