Even though the Miami Dolphins are 9-3 and tied for the best record in the AFC, they have plenty of detractors.
Many claim their record is fraudulent because they haven’t beaten any teams that are currently over .500, which is certainly a legitimate argument to make.
But the Dolphins will still be a tough out come playoff time, and it isn’t just because they boast one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses.
Omar Kelly pointed out how strong their chemistry is and that head coach Mike McDaniel has been doing a good job coaching and leading them.
Confession: This is such a unique Dolphins team.
I’ve never covered any team like this one in my career.
They love one another. They are locked in weekly. Well coached team, and good leadership everywhere.
You got something here.

Miami currently ranks second in points, passing touchdowns, and rushing yards, and they lead everyone in total yards and rushing touchdowns.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa continues to progress in his fourth pro season, and wide receiver Tyreek Hill is leading the NFL in receiving yards and touchdowns while possibly charging his way to the first-ever 2,000-receiving-yard season.
Even though stud rookie running back De’Von Achane missed a sizable chunk of the season, the Dolphins’ running game has still been on fire, as Raheem Mostert leads the league with 14 rushing touchdowns.
The bone of contention for them has been their defense — they’re just 21st in points allowed, and while they have held four of their last five opponents to 17 or fewer points, none of those opponents have exactly been formidable foes.
With games against the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, and Baltimore Bills to close out the regular season, the Dolphins will have an opportunity to prove that they’re more than just paper tigers.
