The Buffalo Bills entered the season in the spotlight.
Stefon Diggs put them on notice with his tantrums, and it seemed like he was on the verge of wreaking havoc inside the locker room.
They struggled to be at their best at the start of the year, even firing OC Ken Dorsey at some point.
Josh Allen got blazing hot to finish the season, and the Bills rallied to win their division, but the final outcome was the same as always: they just couldn’t beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
Now, things could get tougher for them because of their financial situation.
As pointed out by Paul Hembekides of ESPN, Allen’s cap hit is about to rise all the way from $18.6 million to $47.1 million next season.
Josh Allen cap hit by season:
2019 — $4.8M (lost Wild Card)
2020 — $5.9M (lost Conf Champ)
2021 — $10.2M (lost Divisional)
2022 — $16.4M (lost Divisional)
2023 — $18.6M (lost Divisional)
2024 — $47.1MIt’s about to get much, much harder.

Some were worried about how the Bills’ Super Bowl window could be closing right before their eyes this season, but that was before their late-campaign turnaround.
Now, they might need to get creative and make some moves to stay competitive.
Of course, Allen could always restructure his deal to get some of that money back in a signing bonus and lower his cap hit by at least $20 million, but that might not be enough.
The Bills should look to move on from Diggs, who brought a lot of negative and unnecessary media attention and became a non-factor during their winning run.
Whatever the case, keeping the band together will be quite challenging for Brandon Beane, who has been talking about their financial situation for years now.
