The Dallas Cowboys will face their toughest and most significant challenge of the season on Sunday.
There’s never a good time to have a divisional rematch against the 10-2 Philadelphia Eagles, and especially not after they got beat by the San Francisco 49ers.
The Eagles could either look to bounce back in a big way and make a statement on the road, or the Cowboys could make the most of their momentum to get back at them for their loss earlier in the season.
Whatever the case, NFL analyst Craig Carton disagrees with Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy, who recently called this game a “playoff game without playoff implications.”
In the latest edition of “The Carton Show,” Carton explained that this game will, indeed, have some serious postseason ramifications, especially for the Cowboys.
“You’re either going to be the 1, the 2, or the 5, and if you lose this game you’re a lock to be the 5-seed. This game has SERIOUS ramifications for the Dallas Cowboys on whether they’re playing a home playoff game or not.”

Carton stated that a loss on Sunday would pretty much lock the Cowboys in as the fifth seed, meaning they won’t be able to get back to No. 1 or No. 2 because they won’t win their division.
And while Wild Card teams have gone on to win a Super Bowl, the Cowboys’ home dominance is something they need to make the most of if given the chance.
McCarthy’s team has won 14 consecutive games at AT&T Stadium, all while averaging north of 37 points per game.
They outplayed the Eagles during some stretches, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see them win the game.
Then again, they need to approach this matchup with the importance it requires, as it could determine the fate of their entire season.
