The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may not have been the most consistent team during the 2023 NFL season, but they did just enough to win the NFC South and clinch the No. 4 seed for the 2023 NFL Playoffs.
The Buccaneers drew the Philadelphia Eagles and blew out the reigning NFC Champions 32-9 on their home field.
Tampa Bay is an intriguing playoff team because of their offensive firepower plus a well-coordinated defense that can make life tough for opposing offenses.
Baker Mayfield is having a resurgent year in his first leading the Buccaneers offense and the former No. 1 overall pick has looked great throwing the football.
Against the Eagles, Mayfield threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns, showing excellent touch and feel with his throws.
However, Greg Cosell broke down the film and noted that Mayfield can struggle when having to sit in the pocket for extended stretches via For The Win.
“The thing about Baker is at his core, he’s a rhythmic thrower, and the longer he has to stay in the pocket, the less comfortable he is,” Cosell said.

Cosell’s observation is spot on as Mayfield is at his best when the offense is in a rhythm and he is able to get rid of the football quickly.
Mayfield isn’t the best at improvising on a broken play and can get into trouble when he’s facing pressure.
Against the Detroit Lions, Mayfield could run into trouble as their opponent boasts a strong defensive line that’s capable of getting after the quarterback.
It’ll be interesting to see how Mayfield holds up on the road against a Lions team that’s playing with a lot of confidence.
