The Baltimore Ravens had the best defense in the league by a wide margin last season.
But now that defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald will no longer be in town after he joined the Seattle Seahawks as their new head coach, that could change.
More than that, the Ravens are going to have some heavy hitters hitting free agency in the offseason, and it could be tricky to retain that kind of talent, especially considering how much they could get paid somewhere else.
That’s why NFL analyst Brad Spielberger of PFF told Kevin Clark that he thinks the Ravens are going to have a tough time in free agency, adding that he wouldn’t be shocked to see their defense take a significant step back.
This Is Football NFL free agency primer with @PFF_Brad on the show today: I asked him for two rosters that will have a rough time in free agency. He gave me two playoff teams. Really good deep dive with Brad on the show today. pic.twitter.com/ImFD3BSEe5

Spielberger stated that as many as 13 players from that unit will hit free agency in the offseason, and it’s virtually impossible that they will be able to keep the band together.
The Ravens failed to make the most of the chance to make it back to the Super Bowl, and it’s hard to think they’ll have a shot as big as this one in the near future.
Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills will be back stronger next season, and so will Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Aaron Rodgers will pose a massive threat out of the AFC East with the New York Jets, and even the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to get a better quarterback, not to mention the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
