Coming off their first loss of the 2023 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers will be looking to bounce back in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football.
The 49ers had a tough time against the Cleveland Browns defense in Week 6, and a large part of that was due to injuries to their key offensive weapons.
Deebo Samuel was forced to exit the game after hurting his shoulder and was unable to return, while Christian McCaffrey suffered an oblique injury late in the second half.
McCaffrey was able to come back to the game, but only managed to play one snap before heading back to the locker room.
The star running back was diagnosed with an oblique injury and was initially considered to be held out for at least Week 7.
However, McCaffrey is expected to suit up against the Vikings and the extent of his injury was revealed via Jay Glazer of FOX.

It sounds concerning for McCaffrey to play through a tear, but he’s a tough player who has proven that he can play through pain and still handle his normal allotment of snaps.
The 49ers’ offense revolves around McCaffrey’s versatility in the backfield, though Kyle Shanahan could opt to limit his opportunities in order to keep him from injuring himself further.
Elijah Mitchell should get more touches this week, along with Jordan Mason who scored a rushing touchdown against Cleveland.
McCaffrey should still see most of the work, but Shanahan understands that mixing in the other options will be better for the team long-term.
