For the first time in decades, the Detroit Lions managed to clinch the NFC North when they beat the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16.
Throughout the 2023 NFL season, the Lions were the widespread favorite to come away with their division crown but it was finally made official after they outlasted the Vikings in a close game.
Detroit has come a long way under head coach Dan Campbell, but the team still has a lot left to prove as most are still expecting the San Francisco 49ers to just waltz through the NFC come playoff time.
The Lions have the coaching and talent to beat anyone, though they have a tough game ahead as they go on the road to take on the Dallas Cowboys.
Dallas will be looking to bounce back after a narrow loss to the Miami Dolphins, and they present challenges for Detroit on both sides of the field.
Mina Kimes believes the offense is going to have to score points in a hurry to secure a win via ESPN.
“Jared Goff has to throw that ball quickly. The best way to neutralize Micah Parsons is to throw the ball before he has a chance to get there,” Kimes said.
Kimes says that Dallas is tough to beat at home and Detroit should look to avoid falling behind early.
She also brings up the Cowboys’ pass rush that has been giving quarterbacks problems all season, though the Lions do boast a strong pass-blocking offensive line.
Meanwhile, Kimes argues that Detroit should have their advantages in the run game given that that’s one area where Dallas’ defense is vulnerable.
Styles make fights and it should be an interesting clash between two NFC playoff contenders who will look to strengthen their Super Bowl cases.
