Joe Flacco delivered a playoff berth for the Cleveland Browns this past week after a huge win over the New York Jets.
He’s 4-1 as a starter for the Browns and looks as good as ever 16th NFL season.
Flacco told CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones that he “absolutely” wants to play next season, but there may not be a spot for him on his current team.
“He’s on a one-year deal in Cleveland, and you should expect the Browns to be all-in on Deshaun Watson next year,” Jones said Sunday. “So, Flacco might be elsewhere in 2024.”

This is a tricky situation for the Browns because of their financial commitment to Watson.
While Flacco has vastly outplayed Watson this season, he isn’t tied to the team as much as Watson is after Cleveland signed Watson to a fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract in 2022.
Watson will also be 11 years younger than Flacco when the 2024 season begins.
But if Flacco doesn’t remain in Cleveland, there could be several teams interested in bringing the soon-to-be 39-year-old veteran this offseason.
Teams with uncertain quarterback situations like the Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, and Washington Commanders could be interesting options for Flacco if he is only looking for a starting opportunity next season.
He could also return as a mentor for Watson – or another quarterback – with the experience and ability to step in as a starter if needed.
If the 2023 season proved anything, it’s that having a quality backup quarterback can save a season.
It certainly did for the Browns, who started three other quarterbacks before they brought Flacco in back in November.
