The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers are tied at 81.8% for the best playoff chances after both making the Super Bowl just a season ago.
Other notable playoff teams from a season ago in the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills, and Green Bay Packers are all expected to be in the playoffs this year, according to Eisner.
There are also non-playoff teams from a season ago such as the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals that are likely to join the bracket this year.
Now, playoff teams from a season ago in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns have a less than 40% chance to make the playoffs.
It is very interesting to take a look at what the playoff percentages are saying because this is right after the NFL Draft.
Every team gets the opportunity to improve, which is why it’s interesting that the Bucs and Browns are both slated to miss the playoffs.
Most likely, for a team like the Browns, that has to do with the Steelers adding Russell Wilson and Joe Burrow being healthy in Cincinnati.
For Tampa, it could be because the Falcons got Kirk Cousins.
Regardless, the great thing about the NFL is that these numbers don’t mean much until Week 1 kicks off.
