The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially moved on.
It’s the dawn of a new era for the Black & Gold, with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields going toe-to-toe to be their next franchise quarterback.
It didn’t take long before they moved on from Kenny Pickett, and with all due respect to him, it wasn’t exactly surprising.
Pickett struggled to find consistency and take a leap in his two years in the league, and he didn’t want to compete to regain his starting job there, so he was eventually traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Notably, even if he doesn’t play there because of Jalen Hurts’ presence, that could end up being the best thing that could’ve happened to him and his development, at least, according to NFL analyst Greg Cosell.
Talking on The Ross Tucker Podcast, Cosell stated that Pickett looked uncomfortable with the Steelers, and he was nothing like the player he was during his senior year in college:
“The traits he showed in college did not show up with any level of consistency in the NFL with Pittsburgh,” Cosell said.

Cosell added that he had Pickett as the first quarterback off the board in his NFL Draft class, so, unlike other fans and experts, he actually liked that pick and didn’t think the Steelers were reaching by taking him with the No. 20 selection.
Pickett’s days as a starter are most likely over.
Barring a major turn of events or an injury, he’s not going to take the field over Jalen Hurts.
Even so, perhaps all he needed was a change of scenery to be his best, and he’s still young, so he could maybe find another opportunity somewhere else down the line.
