Sometimes, excelling in the NFL Draft isn’t about getting the best player overall but about making the most with your assets and the hand you’re given.
That was the case with the Detroit Lions.
Even though they didn’t have a high first-round pick as they’ve had for most of their history, they still managed to strike gold every single time they were on the clock.
As a matter of fact, NFL analyst Warren Sharp recently revealed that they had the best draft in the league in terms of value.
the Lions had the NFL’s best draft based on value
they received substantial value in 4 of their 6 picks
both SEC CBs they selected were values based on when they took them

On Twitter, he explained that they got ‘substantial value’ in four of their six picks, especially with their two cornerbacks.
He adds that they closed out their draft by taking two players in the sixth round who were projected to be taken close to 100 picks earlier.
On top of that, it’s not like they were lucky, as they traded up in five of their six selections.
The Lions didn’t have many areas of need, but they got significantly better over the weekend.
The Lions have been as aggressive in the draft as they’ve been on the field over the past couple of years, and it’s paid off.
This is how winning and sustainable teams are built, and they should continue to be a force for years to come.
