The Los Angeles Chargers entered the 2023 season with confidence.
They were coming off a playoff berth in 2022, looking forward to this year with newfound expectations.
Justin Herbert was just signed to a massive extension, indicating that the organization was excited to move forward with him as their franchise star.
With the Chargers’ record now at 5-8, many have suggested that their actions are not working.
Several analysts have suggested that they should fire their head coach, Brandon Staley.
Booger McFarland is the most recent example, calling the Chargers a “bad football team,” indicating that Staley’s firing is imminent.
We knew Brandon Staley should’ve been fired last year. We just waited a year but it’s gonna happen in less than a month They are a bad football team

The Chargers are three games back in the divisional race, and with four weeks to go, it seems unlikely they will make the playoffs.
Something has to give for this team to make a more significant impact moving forward.
Staley was touted as an exciting head coach when he took the job with the Chargers.
He stemmed from the Sean McVay coaching tree, one of the best in recent memory.
McVay has found great success at the highest level, and his protegees have been viewed in high regard across the league.
While Staley’s high-risk approach on both sides of the ball seemed innovative then, fans have quickly soured on his methods.
The Chargers seem to go for it on fourth down significantly more than other teams, which has gotten them into trouble late in games.
When most teams would have settled for points and kicked a field goal, Staley’s decision to go for it has cost the Chargers.
Will the Chargers have to look for a new head coach by the end of the season?
