The Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the best teams in the league this season, and while it’s hard to say it comes as a surprise, some still aren’t ready to give them the nod as actual Super Bowl contenders.
That’s why making a statement against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday could be key to turning the narrative around about them.
With that in mind, former NFL star WR Victor Cruz talked on The Carton Show about how Sunday’s game vs. the Niners will be the Jaguars’ Super Bowl, as it’ll give them a chance to prove that they can beat winning teams and people will have to start talking about them differently.
“This is the Jaguars’ Super Bowl this week. If they want to be able to make noise and be a relevant team in the NFL and prove that they can win the big ones, then we gotta start talking about them in a different way.”

However, Craig Carton believes this is the absolute worst possible time to face Kyle Shanahan’s team, as they’re coming off a bye week and riding a three-game losing streak, so they’re well-rested and thirsty for revenge.
On top of that, even if they don’t have Trent Williams — which is obviously a huge blow for their offensive line — they will get Deebo Samuel back, and Chase Young will make his debut.
The Jaguars went through something similar in Week 2, as they hosted the Kansas City Chiefs fresh off a loss and getting two prime reinforcements back, yet still went toe-to-toe with them and had a legitimate chance to beat them.
The Niners are favored by three points ahead of this crucial road matchup, and they know they cannot afford another setback after dropping three games in a row.
