The San Francisco 49ers weren’t ready for the Baltimore Ravens.
Despite being heavily favored by most sportsbooks, Kyle Shanahan’s team got outplayed in every single aspect of the game.
That’s why Craig Carton stated that their defense was like ‘Swiss Cheese’ against Zay Flowers, Lamar Jackson, and Todd Monken’s offense.
More than that, Carton said on The Carton Show that Niners’ QB Brock Purdy seemed rattled in the game, and he admitted that he was pressing and trying to do too much.
“For the first time, you could tell Brock Purdy was pressing and he couldn’t answer. He just seemed rattled.”

Truth be told, it’s not common to see Purdy taking so many risks and putting the football in harm’s way as often as he did on Monday night.
He’s usually known for playing mistake-free football, even though that often meant being uberly conservative.
That wasn’t the case on Monday.
Purdy wanted to make a statement and improve just why he was one of the leading MVP candidates, and things obviously didn’t go his way.
Prudy may have lost every single chance he had to win the MVP award, and the Niners had a golden opportunity to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Of course, Purdy and the Niners could care less about that distinction right now.
It’s all about getting the job done at this point, and with the Niners still being considered the strongest powerhouse in the NFC, they can’t take their foot off the gas after a tough loss.
It’s hard to envision them losing so badly in a potential rematch, but they’ll need to prove it by bouncing back right away on Sunday vs. the Washington Commanders.
