Trevor Lawrence got paid.
The Jacksonville quarterback shockingly became the highest-paid player in NFL history Thursday night when he signed a staggering five-year, $275 million contract extension.
The sheer magnitude of the deal sent shock waves across the league and made some question if the Jaguars made the correct call in backing up the Brinks truck for their young signal caller.
Viewers tuned in to FS1’s “Speak” and were told that Lawrence was paid too quickly for his current body of work.
LeSean McCoy lamented that the Jags quarterback is compensated at the same yearly rate as Joe Burrow and higher annually than three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes.

Lawrence’s history deal includes $200 million, which is fully guaranteed, making him the fourth quarterback in league history to reach that financial plateau.
The Clemson product understandably expressed his gratitude to the organization and city, as should his descendants for generations to come.
But did the team empty the vault too quickly?
Lawrence has three years in the league after being the first overall draft choice in 2021, and his resume includes exactly one trip to the playoffs in a generally weak division.
After the wasted rookie season under Urban Meyer, Lawrence guided the team to a pair of up-and-down campaigns that showed his talent but not consistency.
And this is worth $275 million?
For Jacksonville, the answer is clearly yes.
The team looked at the dearth of talent at the quarterback position and decided to push all their chips to the center of the table.
