The Denver Broncos will release Russell Wilson as soon as the clock strikes zero and the new league year begins.
They’ll still have to pay him not to play for them, so money won’t be an issue for him on his new contract.
Wilson is reportedly looking to play for a team where he can win, and he’s looking forward to being the ultimate bargain.
That’s why NFL analyst Craig Carton believes he makes too much sense for the Pittsburgh Steelers right now.
Talking on The Carton Show, he stated that even if the Steelers want to run it back with Kenny Pickett, even though they clearly lost faith in him late in the season last year, they could have Wilson at that kind of money.
“I don’t think there’s a situation in the AFC that is better than the Steelers,” Carton said.

Moreover, he doesn’t see a good opportunity for Wilson in the NFC right now, but the picture is quite different in the AFC.
Of course, the Steelers play in one of the toughest divisions in the league, with the Cleveland Browns and their stout defense, and Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson leading the way for the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens, respectively.
Still, they seem to be the kind of team who could be just one quarterback away from making a splash, and Wilson can definitely still play the position.
The Steelers need to make a decision, but this would be the ultimate low-risk/high-reward pickup for a team desperately craving an improvement on offense.
