The New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles essentially swapped pass-rushers.
The Eagles signed Bryce Huff to a three-year, $51.1 million deal in free agency.
Then, they traded Haason Redick to the Jets in return for a conditional third-round pick in 2026.
Considering that, NFL analyst Brian Baldinger claimed this was a major upgrade in talent for Robert Saleh’s team.
As good a player as Huff is, he believes that Reddick is a proven commodity in this league, not to mention a durable and well-rounded player who won’t be on the field just for situational football, as he’s an every-down kind of player (Via NFL Total Access).

Reddick is entering the final year of his contract and looking to get paid.
He had been elite for the Eagles, logging 27 sacks in the past two years, but Howie Roseman needed to get cheaper and younger, especially considering how much the defense struggled later in the season.
The Jets will likely try to get him to sign a contract extension.
But even if he ends up leaving, they got him on a very reasonable deal, and he would figure into their compensatory pick formula in 2026, so it was a low-risk/high-reward pick for GM Joe Douglas as they look to make a Super Bowl push in 2024.
