One of the biggest stories for the Kansas City Chiefs heading into the 2023 season was their pass-catching options.
After losing Tyreek Hill and Juju Smith-Schuster in the prior two seasons, there was concern that Patrick Mahomes didn’t have the best available options at his disposal heading into the new year.
However, as he always seems to do, Mahomes made it work with the players they did have on the roster.
Rashee Rice contributed in a meaningful way down the stretch in his rookie campaign, Travis Kelce continued his dominance, and other players made plays when they needed to.
When looking ahead to the 2024 season, the Chiefs could be faced with more questions as it pertains to their pass-catchers.
Rice is currently being investigated for a car crash he had in Texas during the offseason, and it remains to be seen if he’ll play for the Chiefs in 2024.
Even if he does, there are a lot of conversations that point to the Chiefs adding at least one receiver in the upcoming draft.
David Carr gave a pitch on NFL Total Access for the Chiefs to go with Xavier Worthy out of Texas, saying, “This guy is a big-time playmaker down the field.”

Worthy was an intriguing prospect heading into the Combine, and he did not disappoint.
His 4.21-second 40-yard dash was the fastest in Combine history, and while straight-line speed isn’t everything in the NFL, it is an indication of what he can do if he gets in the open field.
This could be an intriguing option for Mahomes in the Chiefs, hoping to add a deep threat to bring back Hill’s level of impact to this team.
