The Pittsburgh Steelers desperately craved a turnaround at quarterback, and they got one.
Justin Fields and Russell Wilson will go toe-to-toe for the starting QB job, with the veteran gunslinger set to be the starter at first.
Needless to say, that’s great news for the fans, as this team was already competitive despite having the worst quarterback situation in the league.
Considering that, NFL analyst Craig Carton believes that the Steelers are now officially Super Bowl contenders.
Talking on The Carton Show, he acknowledged that as much as the AFC North Division is complicated and the AFC has the reigning Super Bowl champions and more contenders, one cannot overlook the Steelers.
“The Pittsburgh Steelers are a legitimate Super Bowl contender this year,” Carton said.

Truth be told, this makes plenty of sense.
The Steelers have one of the best defenses in the league, anchored by Alex Highsmith and T.J.Watt.
They also have one of the best head coaches in the game, with Mike Tomlin keeping his non-losing season streak alive.
This team managed to make the playoffs with a QB room consisting of Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, and Mason Rudolph, and they were close to taking the Buffalo Bills down.
So, even if Wilson isn’t the player he used to be, all they need is someone who takes care of the football and keeps the chains in motion; they don’t need him to cook.
The Steelers have solid skill players on offense, and even if things won’t always be easy or pretty, you should never count Mike Tomlin out.
