The Los Angeles Chargers could have one of their best players back on the field on Monday night.
Star RB Austin Ekeler recently stated that he’s 99% certain that he’ll suit up, adding that he felt like he could’ve played during his team’s bye week.
Ekeler is obviously a pivotal part of Kellen Moore’s offense, and he should be even more now that they’re undermanned with Mike Williams set to miss the remainder of the season.
That’s why Plaxico Burress and Willie Colon went out of their way to discuss Ekeler’s importance for his team, with Burress stating that he’s arguably the best running back in football (via The Carton Show).

He showed that Ekeler has more rushing yards, yards from scrimmage, and total touchdowns than Christian McCaffrey since 2020, yet it seems like no one talks about him as an elite running back.
Notably, that’s what happens with not-so-popular teams, so that’s not much of a surprise.
But Ekeler’s production is no surprise at this point, and the fact that Joshua Kelley struggled so mightily as his replacement proves that it’s not a scheme or offensive line thing; he’s just that good.
The Chargers have made plenty of moves in the past couple of seasons, yet they can’t seem to get over the hump.
They cannot afford another disappointing season now, at least not if Brandon Staley wants to keep his job.
That’s why Ekeler’s role will be crucial for the remainder of the campaign, starting with that Monday Night Football showdown vs. the Dallas Cowboys.
