After the 2023 NFL regular season ended, several head coaches around the league, including legendary head coach Bill Belichick, were given their walking papers.
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft felt it was finally time to move on from Belichick after 24 seasons, which wasn’t much of a surprise as it was rumored to be the team’s intention for most of the 2023 campaign.
However, what was surprising was with so many head coaching vacancies around the league, Belichick wasn’t able to secure another job despite being the favorite to land the Atlanta Falcons job and interviewing with the Washington Commanders, which was a franchise in desperate need of a culture change.
Ultimately, the Falcons went with Raheem Morris, formerly of the Los Angeles Rams, and the Commanders hired former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
Although Quinn is highly respected, Adam Schein of “Mad Dog Sports Radio” believes Commanders fans should be livid that the team didn’t hire Belichick instead.
“If I’m a fan of the Washington Commanders, I want to take my fist and punch it through a wall,” Schein said.

Obviously, only time will tell if this hiring of Quinn to replace Ron Rivera was a smart move for the Commanders, but it is safe to say that an opportunity was missed, considering Belichick is in the conversation for being the best head coach in league history.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for the Commanders under Quinn and where Belichick may land in the future.
