The Houston Texans have been much better than anticipated this season.
Not even the most optimistic Texans fan thought they would be in this position this deep in the campaign, and even though not having C.J. Stroud out there could put an end to their promising campaign, the fans still have to feel great about what this team has done thus far.
Notably, NFL analyst Greg Cossell believes that, as much credit as Stroud deserves, no one seems to be talking about their solid defensive front.
Talking on the Ross Tucker Podcast, Cossell dissected the team’s personnel and how well they mesh altogether despite having different traits in their game, and talking about how they’re a very efficient team despite not being a high-blitz team.

Truth be told, it’s not much of a surprise to see that the Texans have made great strides defensively under DeMeco Ryans.
Not only was he a defensive superstar himself, but he also made a name for himself in the league for being one of the best defensive coordinators in the game during his days with the San Francisco 49ers.
Most defensive-oriented coaches don’t find that much success as head coaches, at least earlier in their careers, but that hasn’t been the case with Ryans.
The Texans have been able to turn things around in just one season, developing winning habits and a strong culture.
There’s accountability, there’s good coaching, and they have two young superstars to build their team around; one on each side of the field.
