We’re just one week away from the 2024 NFL Draft, and it is likely to be the best draft the league has seen in decades.
The biggest reason is the group of very talented and skilled quarterbacks in this year’s draft, and leading that group is Caleb Williams from the University of Southern California.
For many months, scouts and pundits have been talking about the immense potential that he has, to the point where a few may be concerned that he won’t be able to meet the expectations surrounding him.
But Emmanuel Acho said on FS1’s “Speak” that he feels it won’t be unrealistic for Williams to pan out because of the “proximity” of the college game to the pro game these days.

NFL teams in recent years have been running more and more offensive sets that for decades were primarily run by college teams, such as run-pass option (RPO) sets, and it has helped streamline football.
Add that to the fact that there have been more head coaches jumping from college to the pros, including the now-retired Pete Carroll, who coached USC in the 2000s, and Jim Harbaugh, who has gone from the University of Michigan to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Williams threw for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdowns while adding 11 touchdowns on the ground last season, and the year prior, he had 4,537 passing yards, 42 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing touchdowns.
The Chicago Bears, who have the No. 1 pick, are expected to take him, and if they do, he will have plenty of support in his quest to succeed quickly at the next level.
They have two bona fide wide receiver threats in DJ Moore and Keenan Allen, and they also have the No. 9 pick in the draft, which could yield another stud.
