NFL games often lead to overreactions.
That’s what happens when you have just 17 games in a regular season and have to wait at least four days before watching a team play another game.
There’s not that much time to turn things around, and a minor losing streak could turn into a major disaster.
With that in mind, NFL analyst David Lombardi stated that as crazy as overreactions from Monday night’s clash between the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens could be, they could’ve been even bigger if Sam Darnold could’ve gotten another yard at the end of the game.
The overreactions to one regular season game are crazy. But they would’ve been absolutely next level if the 49ers had gained 1 more yard with Sam Darnold there at the end

He’s right on point there.
It didn’t take long before Niners fans took to social media to urge Darnold to replace Purdy on a permanent basis after watching him throw for a garbage-time touchdown to cut the lead to 14 points.
The Niners went from being a lock to make it to the Super Bowl to a team that can be had; they were exposed.
As for the Ravens, they went from being a team that could only beat bad teams to the undisputed No. 1, best, and biggest juggernaut in all of football; that’s just the way it goes.
More often than not, the truth lies somewhere in between those major overreactions.
But at least Purdy can be happy and rest assured that his work isn’t in jeopardy right now, and he was probably rooting for the Ravens defense to get that final stop.
Otherwise, talking heads would be out of their minds today.
