The playoff matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Detriot Lions is more than just a game.
The storylines are bigger than what might happen on the field, as Matthew Stafford will go back to his former home, and Jared Goff will get a chance to beat the team that gave up on him.
That’s why former NFL star Jason McCourty believes that as much as a win over the Rams might not mean a lot for Goff’s legacy, it definitely has to be personal (Via Good Morning Football).

The Rams traded Goff to land Stafford, and he led that very same team to a Super Bowl win in his first year with the team; that’s gotta hurt.
Goff has been much better since joining Dan Campbell’s team, and it’s safe to say that he’s salvaged his career.
The sole fact that he was able to lead the Lions to an NFC North Division title has already done more than enough for his legacy with the team.
Then again, having a chance to stick it to the very same team that traded you and chose another guy over you has to give him some major motivation.
Both parties ended their relationship on a positive note, and Stafford might be considered the greatest QB in Lions history, so there should be no animosity there.
Still, these guys are fierce competitors, and this just has to mean more this time.
