This NFL Draft is loaded with talent at quarterback, with the possibility of the top-four picks all being quarterbacks and as many as six QBs being taken in the first round.
With so much time between the Super Bowl and the NFL Draft, we all have too much time on our hands to evaluate these prospects, and one analyst is warning us about accuracy issues concerning one of the draft’s top QBs.
The Ringer’s Benjamin Solak posted on Twitter that Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr.’s accuracy is “one of the worst I’ve charted in the last few years,” which is a criticism we haven’t heard much when it comes to Penix.
Penix accuracy is one of the worst I’ve charted in the last few years. He’s a classic example of a generally accurate, but not really precise passer. His receivers bailed him out so much. https://t.co/VtRiMX5hTO

Solak added: “He’s a classic example of a generally accurate, but not really precise passer. His receivers bailed him out so much.”
The knocks on Penix are almost always concerning his athleticism and extensive injury history, as he has two torn ACLs and a pair of season-ending shoulder injuries under his belt, and his mobility and escapability were major question marks after watching his last few college seasons.
The accuracy is not something that gets criticized often with him, especially after completing 65.4 percent of his passes last season for over 4,900 yards.
In Solak’s defense, Penix did have some incredible receivers at Washington, with Rome Odunze possibly being a top-10 pick in this draft, as well as Ja’Lynn Polk and Jalen McMillan both putting up 1,000-yard seasons with Penix under center as well.
“Accurate but not precise” is not something you hear often about a quarterback.
It’s something to keep in mind, but not a dealbreaker for Penix’s draft stock.
