The Los Angeles Angels have to start, against their will, the post-Shohei Ohtani era.
They tried their best to bring him back, but the fact remains that they failed him by not making the playoffs even once in the six years he was with them.
Now, they still have Mike Trout to lead the charge, but their roster is not as good as that of the Houston Astros, the Texas Rangers, or even the Seattle Mariners.
Yet they do have some specific players that have people optimistic about their season.
One of them is shortstop Zach Neto.
Neto was, after just 41 games above High-A, rushed to the majors last year.
Still, he was able to accumulate valuable experience and is now a true breakout candidate.
He is certainly playing like one, as evidenced by his mammoth spring training homer on Thursday, per FOX Sports: MLB.

Against a left-hander, Neto had a beautiful, powerful swing that sent the ball to dead center, much further than the 420-feet mark shown at the wall.
It was truly a majestic blast, and proves that his raw power is off the charts.
It will be up to him to showcase this impressive power more often to be a better offensive player.
Last year in the majors, he hit a disappointing .225/.308/.377 with a .685 OPS in 84 games.
However, his pre-draft experience and his minor league results suggest that he can be much, much better in 2024.
The Angels are certainly hoping that happens and he turns into one of the young stars leading the charge in a difficult time for the franchise.
The talent is certainly there.
