The Los Angeles Angels are putting together their coaching staff.
The most important vacancy, the manager, has already been filled with veteran skipper Ron Washington.
One of the men who interviewed for that position, Bo Porter, has now been confirmed as the team’s new first base coach according to MLB insider Britt Ghiroli.
Sources: Bo Porter, who interviewed for the Angels managerial job, is joining Ron Washington’s staff as 1B coach.

Porter, 51, has experience in a variety of roles throughout his baseball career.
He played in MLB from 1999 to 2001, then started a career as a coach in the mid-2000s, mostly in the minor leagues.
He managed the Houston Astros in 2013 and 2014, back when they were finishing their rebuild and about to soar.
His 110–190 managerial record was a product of the talent available on the Astros roster back in the day.
The 2013 Astros team compiled an ugly 51-111 record, and even though they were better in 2014 (59-79), Porter was still fired.
After that, he joined the Atlanta Braves as a coach in 2015 and 2016.
After the conclusion of the 2016 campaign, Porter was named a special assistant to Braves general manager John Coppolella.
He also worked as a co-anchor and analyst for MASN, covering Washington Nationals games, in 2019.
He has been a player, coach, manager, advisor, and broadcaster; quite an interesting and colorful career in the game he loves.
He will be back as a coach in 2024, for an Angels team that will probably be without top star Shohei Ohtani.
If that’s the case, a long rebuild might be ahead for the franchise, even with Mike Trout as the star of the roster.
