The Pittsburgh Steelers had a rollercoaster of a season.
Their defense was lights out as usual, but their offense left a lot to be desired.
Kenny Pickett drew plenty of criticism for most of the season.
Reports stated that he had made great strides in the offseason, but that didn’t show up more often than not.
He looked great in his lone game after Matt Canada was fired but ended up missing the remainder of the season with an injured ankle.
Now, he’ll get to work with former Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith, his new offensive coordinator.
With that in mind, Smith talked about how much he was looking forward to getting to know him and working with him (via ProFootballTalk).
“There’s a relationship that’s got to be built between me and Kenny. That’s so paramount between the play caller and the quarterback,” Smith told Missi Matthews of Steelers.com.

It’s worth noting that Pickett is far from a lock to be the starter next season.
Mike Tomlin refused to go back to him when he was healthy for the Wild Card game vs. the Buffalo Bills, sticking with Mason Rudolph instead.
Even so, it sounds like Smith expects him to be their QB1.
Smith found plenty of success with the Tennessee Titans as their offensive coordinator before getting the Falcons’ head coaching job, and that’s despite having a subpar quarterback situation on his hands.
The Steelers and their fans will hope he’s able to replicate that success with them under another ever-struggling gunslinger.
And while Pickett has yet to show that he can be a franchise-caliber quarterback, he’s the best option they have on their roster right now.
