Many MLB teams wish they could still be playing.
But, to make it this deep into October you must have a good organization from the top down.
One team that fails at that is the Oakland Athletics.
While they have done a good job at finding players, they are never willing to spend money to keep them.
You can see former A’s sprinkled throughout the MLB playoffs.
Two of which are headed to the World Series.
Both Marcus Semien and Jonah Heim were on the A’s before joining the Texas Rangers.
According to Shayna Rubin, the A’s did not do much to try and keep both around.
She said Semien was given a “ludicrous” offer from the A’s while Heim was traded away for cash.
Marcus Semien and Jonah Heim in the World Series a good reminder of how each left Oakland: Semien in FA after a ludicrous offer and Heim in a trade to Texas for more cash.

This has always been a part of the A’s gameplan.
They keep their best players until it is time to pay them and then trade them away.
No team consistently spends less money than the A’s.
That is a large reason why they are rarely in contention.
Look across the MLB and you will see former A’s flourishing for other teams.
Matt Olson and Sean Murphy had career years for the Atlanta Braves.
Also, Matt Chapman had a good season for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Not to mention Jesus Luzardo and Sonny Gray were two of the better pitchers in their respective leagues this year.
It is a shame that A’s fans have to watch their former players excel on other teams.
But until they start showing the will to spend money, this team will never be in World Series contention.
