In recent weeks, Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman saw his name come up in trade rumors.
Virtually every MLB star goes through that at least once in his career.
It can be annoying, facing the possibility of starting over, potentially across the country, and leaving a whole life behind.
Bregman, however, appears to be going nowhere.
“GM Dana Brown says the Astros are not entertaining trading Alex Bregman,” B/R Walk-Off tweeted, citing Astros insider Chandler Rome.

It could be posturing, too, because if the Astros publicly make their player available, teams will perceive an urgency to trade him on their part and thus potentially lowering his value.
Still, it’s a credible story by all means.
Bregman has been at the heart of the Astros lineup for years, making his MLB debut in 2016 and establishing himself as a star almost immediately.
He has 235 doubles and 165 career home runs at 29 years old, with a .861 career OPS and solid defense at the hot corner.
That’s why he is a desirable piece for contenders around the league.
Well, that and his vast playoff experience.
The only reason why the Astros should feel compelled to move him is his looming free agency.
2024 will be Bregman’s final season on his current contract.
The Astros are facing the same problem with Jose Altuve, and Kyle Tucker and Framber Valdez will be free agents in two years.
In other words, the Astros have lots of players to extend and probably not enough room on their budget to keep them all.
Perhaps they deal Bregman, perhaps they keep him.
However, they could be facing some tough decisions in the not-so-distant future.
