The New England Patriots have many problems right now, and they start at the quarterback position.
They have gone from having hope that they have found their man for the post-Tom Brady era, to being concerned that Mac Jones may not be that man, to shuffling between Jones and Bailey Zappe.
Jones has been benched multiple times this season in favor of Zappe, and it is not known who will start under center this weekend when they host the Los Angeles Chargers.
Per NBC Sports Boston, Zappe says that while he’s been preparing each week as if he will be the starter, he doesn’t know his chances of being the starter this Sunday.
“Nothing is set in stone.”

While Jones has thrown more interceptions than touchdown passes this season, Zappe hasn’t been much better.
The fourth-round pick in the 2022 pick has completed just 48.7 percent of his pass attempts and thrown two picks and zero touchdowns in four games this year.
New England is just 2-9, giving them the worst record in the AFC, and they rank next-to-last in the NFL in points.
The uncertainty the once-proud franchise faces right now goes well beyond who will lead its offense, as there has been lots of speculation that head coach Bill Belichick, who once seemed untouchable, could be on his way out.
Some feel he could be fired by the end of the season, while there are also rumors he could simply decide to step aside.
Belichick has been the Patriots’ head coach since the 2000 campaign, and while he won six Super Bowl championships with Brady, he has struggled without him, both before and since he wore No. 12 for the team.
